Amour (Love) from director Michael Haneke

Austrian director and previous award winner at Cannes 2012 Michael Haneke was the person selected for the Palme d’Or at this years 65th Cannes Film Festival for the film Amour (Love). As the top prize for the Cannes festival, this award will go in his collection as a huge achievement among all of the full feature films he has directed since the 70′s. Love (Amour) has been picked up for distribution in the United Kingdom from Artifical Eye and is slated for a September theatrical release. This is one of our most anticipated releases of the year so far.

Manohla Dargis of the New York Times mentioned the following in an article about Amour (Love) this last May: Heavy rain dampened the final day of the 65th Cannes Film Festival, but it mattered not at all when the Palme d’Or was awarded to “Amour.” Brilliantly directed with an atypically tender touch by the Austrian director Michael Haneke, this story about an octogenarian husband and wife facing their mortality — beautifully played by the French actors Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva — had left audiences stunned with its artistry and depth of feeling.
