Sound Colour Vibration member Kenn Deaton is always coming up with something that brings enjoyment to my life and this time he really out did himself. Read below on how to create your new band and how to Photoshop your first album cover under the new band name. After completing all the steps, my new band name is Ethology and my first record will have the title “The Joke He Resents”. Some in ths world can take themselves so serious that it is a nice excursion to do fun pojects like this that have no intention of proving how good one is as anything, just plain honest humour. If you create an album cover, please send to our gmail and we will upload the best of the ones we get into this post.

1 – Go to Wikipedia and hit random. The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
……2 – Go to quotationspage.com and hit random. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3 – Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”. Third picture no matter what …it is, will be your album cover.
4 – Use Photoshop or similar (picnik.com is a free online photo editor) to put it all together.
5 – Post it with this text and tag the friends you want to join in.

Stones Throw Records just released a really nice article on the history of Madlib’s ever evolving branch of musical identity known as Yesterdays New Quintet and more recently Yesterdays Universe which is reaching its 10 year anniversary. Started at the turn of the new century, these groups root themselves in jazz, soul, funk and many other forms of music. Check out the Stones Throw page for the entire article. ~ Erik Otis

Omar Rodriguez completed his first tour of the United States under a band for the solo records he has been releasing, the Omar Rodriguez Group. I was fortunate enough to attend the Los Angeles gig and I was really happy to see the band released pro shot footage from that gig along with one from New York a few days later. Omar has been releasing albums at a very fast rate and news has been released of more to come before the year is over. His last album release, Cizaña De Los Amores is a beautiful album, and in my opinion is one of the best records in his entire catalogue as a musician he has released. ~ Erik Otis
For any readers out there in Russia, Omar Rodriguez Group will be doing 3 dates, definitely really interesting that he has chosen that part of the world to tour.

Now to this beautiful black and white pro footage of Omar and his band doing what they do.

The self-taught and talented Aretha Franklin blanked the world with her voice over the world from the time she was in her teens. Known as the Queen of Soul, her contributions to modern music go beyond words. Enjoy a small sample of her tunes, we are sure you have heard these before but its always nice to enjoy them no matter how many times one has heard them. ~ Erik Otis
Esther Phillips life is filled with success and tragedy, a polarity in the music business fund all too often. She was found in Los Angeles by the great Johhny Otis at the age of 13 and immediately went into the studio an joined his live band. Through drug addiction, traveling and constant work with her incredible voice, she pushed herself to limits most could never handle. With dozens of albums under different groups and her own name, her voice will stand the test of time when great soul singers are mentioned. ~ Erik Otis
The one and only Roberta Flack
The song that made me fall in love with The Beatles, incredible band that spread lots of love into this world. We need more groups in this world who create in the name of love. ~ Erik Otis
The following time lapse of earth stars was also filmed on David Attenburough’s Private Life of Plants (1995)
From YouTube member neilbromhall on the video below:
Time lapse Earthstar fungi splitting open and then rising off the forest floor. It raises itself up so that the puff-ball is above the leaf litter and gets a better chance of being struck by raindrops which expels its spores.

Filmed in my studio using Nikon D300, 35mm and 55mm lens with studio flash. 20 minute interval.
I read this article in the newest edition of Mother Earth News, one of the most read magazines in print today. This deals with the epidemic known as Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). Scientist in the UK and around the world are now starting to link the cause of this problem and hopefully we as a society can raise enough awareness to fix this problem. Follow the link below to learn more about this potentially fatal epidemic. ~ Erik Otis
Albert Einstein: “If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.”
