The life of Jimi Hendrix began in the rainy washed out west coast scene of Seattle, Washington and was a life that created one of the most timeless legacies ever seen in modern music. Innovative guitar techniques gave way to an entirely new way to approach the guitar and music in general. He plays with complete feeling and grace, everything he touched was undeniably transformed under his sound. When analyzing the sheer amount of musical ideas he had developed into various stages of completion and variation is overwhelming when considering the amount of years he was actually recording. Everyone in music during the late 60′s and 70′s was influenced by this guy, and when he departed from this world it left a deep wound in the psyche of the world. Every single human who owned a record player in September of 1970 felt the devastating affects of hearing about the passing of Jimi Hendrix. A true advocate of peace and harmony, the weight carried forward from his body of works will always influence generations after us.
Jimi Hendrix was covering so many ideas of music and had access to the best recording studios to capture every moment. It is to the benefit of the music community in large that many of these recordings have been remastered from the 1000′s of hours of raw session tapes Hendrix accumulated in just 4 years. In honor of the 69th birthday of Jimi Hendrix, we are proud to present this mixed bag of various musical ideas Hendrix was bringing to the world in his short lifetime. These songs represent a much larger body of musical excellence and creative achievement in the highest degree. Hendrix is hands down one of most important cultural icons of the last 100 years. This mix is titled after one of my favorite poems from Hendrix, The Story of Life which we have included below. Enjoy!

“The Story of Life” by Jimi Hendrix
September 1970
The story of jesus
So easy to explain
After they crucified him,
A woman, she claimed his name
The story of jesus
The whole Bible knows
Went all across the desert
And in the middle, he found a rose
There should be no questions
There should be no lies
He was married ever happily after
All the tears we cry
No use in arguing
All the use to the man that moans
When each man falls in battle
His soul it has to roam
Angles of heaven
Flying saucers to some,
Made easter sunday
The name of the rising sun
The story is written
By so many people who dared,
To lay down the truth
To so very many who cared
To carry the cross
Of jesus and beyond
We will guide the light
This time with a woman in our arms
We as men
Can’t explain the reason why
The woman’s always mentioned
At the moment that we die
All we know
Is God is by our side,
And he says the word
So easy yet so hard
I wish not to be alone,
So I must respect my other heart
Oh, the story
Of jesus is the story
Of you and me
No use in feeling lonely,
I am searching to be free
The story
Of life is quicker
Than the wink of an eye
The story of love
Is hello and goodbye
Until we meet again
