Om “State of Non-Return / Advaitic Songs” | Drag City

Al Cisneros and Emil Amos of “Om” have released a segment of their upcoming album, “ “Advaitic Songs”. It is called  “State of Non-Return” even if “Advaitic Songs” is their first release since 2009.

It not only expands on their stoner rock past (as well as Grails and their eclectic dark, opium dazed world noir), but also brings in cello’s, violins and flutes into the mix.

It is a very heady song that is as if Black Sabbath had gotten lost in the Kabbalah, revisited Jerusalem, saw the beginnings of Christ as well as his fall and then drowned their voice in hollow saint choruses.

A very progressive step for Om.  It really is a rocking song, one that throttles a bit harder than “God is Good” even if it has many more breaks and cut ups within it. A definite treat and one I recommend highly, look out for “Advaitic Songs” on “Drag City Records“!
