Gangrene “Odditorium” | Decon Records

An “Odditorium” of sound was released 4 days ago on Decon Records. Oh No and The Alchemist bring together 4 real, grime covered, dusty future status songs that pop and chop without notice. The bounce, the rhythm and the rhymes play themselves in between psyched out, fuzzy, dirty samples ranging all across the board. A true ADD piece of work that doesn’t leave out hypnotic nod. Gangrene has made a ridiculously fun EP.

It’s an intentionally sloppy, sludgy sound that is chopped up by The Alchemist’s alchemy that burns through the tracks like a raging blunt. The Alchemist is a legend who has worked with the likes of Nas and Ghostface Killah. Now bring in “Oh No” the genius (Madlib’s brother) and you have a fantastic, unstoppable duo that is dirty, evil and straight dangerous. So evil and vigilante-like that Johnny Cash is featured (sort of). But you get the picture. This is two geniuses locked together in an Odditorium of fun where anything goes as long as it is layered in mud and two thousand pounds of sludge.

It’s an incredibly psychedelic release. It’s as if Alchemist and Oh No snuck back in time to the 60’s, stole all of the hippies O.G. L.S.D., lava lamps, records, weed AND THEN road back in time inside of a blacked out convertible blasting bullets into the sky. A lovely combination and one that although short, placed a wide smile on my face. Highly recommend “Fly Brothers” and “Walk Hard”.
