B.F.T.P. Vol 315: Miles Davis live in Austria 1973 (RIP Pete Cosey)

We got word that legendary guitarist Pete Cosey passed away. We could not be more sad by this news. A true legend and innovator of the guitar and particularly his pathways into new tunings that Hendrix and many more after would utilize, Pete Cosey’s tone was monstrous and commanding. We are presenting a clip of his time with the illustrious prince of darkness, Miles Davis. Recorded professionally, this clips focuses on a lot of guitar styles from Cosey. He was truly one of the best and didn’t need high media ratings to prove it in every phase of his life. The world really lost somebody special.

After joining Miles, Cosey performed on the albums Get Up with It, Dark Magus, Agharta and Pangaea. By 1975, Cosey had developed a remarkably advanced guitar approach — involving numerous alternate tunings, guitars restrung in unusual patterns and a post-Hendrix palette of distortion, wah-wah and guitar synth effects — that has influenced many adventurous guitarists, including Henry Kaiser and Vernon Reid. – Wikipedia
