Miles Electric Volume 1 (SCV Online Radio Volume 114)
When it comes to foundations of music, there is nobody in the same category as trumpet and piano player Miles Davis. Having birthed and nurtured the continued growth of thousands around him, he was a University of thought and knowledge, always giving energy to the new, and that new came to a heated apex in the end of the 60′s and into the 70′s. New ideas and new ways to extract sound became possible. For some of these numbers, Miles sits in comfortably with the group on synthesizer while others he is not present at all. The weight of his trumpet lines is devastating and is heard in full on every piece included for this mix. He was a man who valued space as much as the notes that define his style and his bands were the best around. This is a small collection and the first of many to document the vast and expansive career Miles had entered after Jimi Hendrix, Sly Stone, James Brown and so many other black artists had influenced his sound. If you have never dived into this area of Miles’ work, please start here.
