Matthew Barney is someone I discovered through one of his many mediums of art. The first was his work as a filmmaker. I went on to discover his many other mediums which include but are not limited to: photography, sculptures, performance pieces, sketches, paintings, writings, gigantic petroleum jelly molds, you name it.

The man has been everywhere, and continues to do so on very quiet and noble terms. He is more of a stoic artist, one that believes in the art speaking for itself. All interpretation is up for grabs, and apparently it’s been interpreted by millions thanks to places like Guggenheim NYC and San Francisco MOMA.

It is now being reported this year that Barney has taken to an old love his for his new performance pieces, the opera. Barney’s opera performances can be found in New York City, (sadly to say if you’re lucky enough to even find it). He’s a man that we’ve all been acknowledging here at SCV for quite some time. We hope you are as intrigued as us.
