Terry Malick’s The Tree Of Life

The Tree Of Life

Terry Malick
2011

Today is a glorious day. The winner of Cannes film festival’s Palme d’or is opening in NY/LA screens, with further expansion throughout June. Yes, that’s right we at SCV are absolutely thrilled to present the Golden Palm winner, Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life. Let’s start off by calling this film the ultimate meditation on life and human evolution. It has been over 6 years since saw anything from Mr. Malick, and it’s safe to say this was well worth the wait.

Terrence Malick has always created thought-provoking, intensely visual and viscerally emotional films of our times, each one a distinct experience rife with mystery and depth. His new film, THE TREE OF LIFE, may be simultaneously his most intimate and epic work yet – a quest that traverses from today’s urban corporate towers to a 1950s Texas family’s backyard, and at the same time, from the beginnings of life on earth to the end of the known universe, in search of what is true, what is lasting, what is infinite.
