Painter and musician Demon Slayer presents the EP “All Wave”; an electronic beat album replete with DMNSLYR’s ongoing path in representing the different vibrations and wave lengths he is presently constructing with sound. The EP was released at the end of last year through his own private imprint along with the digital form that we find so common in todays media age. From chillwave grooves to 8-bit galactic worlds, the abridgement of beats and psychedelia emerge in the pursuit and search of light, space and time; shinning out on every second of “All Wave”. The piece “Moonwalk Hospital” paints a much darker picture than most of the album, with a really heavy synth loop and drum track. Regardless of how light or dark each piece is, there is always very deep atmosphere and layers upon layers of constructed sound. A headphone experience that unpeeled itself the deeper the look in became.

 All Wave was the birth of not only a conceptual album based around the human vibrational frequency and energy we all individually operate at along with the many ways we construct our world through the mind, soul and antennas that reach to lengths we can’t describe. It was also the birth of his departure from the States to explore the region of his origins, the continent of Asia. Finding his way through new worlds of possibilities, he is setting a path and connecting into an energy grid rarely touched upon by artists today from the States. Packed with an array of gear that stretches sounds to new dimensions: he has unlocked a pocket of vibrations all to akin in the sonically impulsive head, nodding “anthemic” sounds of the beat innovators out today and before him. Even though he shares the same world as many of these producers, he undeniably has proven to share his unique imprint amongst the beat producer world that is thriving and expanding so much right now.

Organic and galactic, lush and vibrant; constantly colliding to create synthetic pulsating atmospheres seen on distant planets. Earth based music that extends far beyond this region. Demon Slayer is an artist who has always proved to shock me from every piece I have heard him make and this album holds up to that same level of expansion. Chillwave grooves, to gritty and elegant dirty drum loops, this is a beautiful and all too short EP, it’s hard not to want more of where this came from. “The Real” is my favorite piece on the record and shows how much attention to detail was taken to construct the right samples, atmosphere, meaning and impactful direction. Vibrant and at times rough, there is a beauty and harmonious nature of sounds that act like lucid offspring bursting from the inner core of this artists mind and soul. Bubbling, gurgling, always moving and never giving in to anything but love. This is the type of album that’s right for a travel to new heights, however you may get there. ”All Wave”, a true and natural blending of many styles,  layers, emotions and ideas and the birth of new beginnings and the shattering of old limitations.

I was invited back to KPFK 90.7 FM to do a special set for Radiobomb’s anniversary show to celebrate eight years of bass music and heavy electronic beats. I’ll be doing a set direct from Vietnam, with a live interview via phone.

Did you know the KKK tried to blow up the radio station in 1970, twice?

The station has been on air since 1949 and broadcasts to all of Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Barbara and China Lake. It is the most powerful transmitting station in the western United States. The first listener-supported radio of its kind, the station holds many milestones in radio history and til this day stands highly regarded as a forerunner of free speech radio.

This is my favorite radio station in California. They play all types of music, from underground and obscure to world music and new beats. They cover all forms of political agendas, often times exposing the corruption and hidden intentions of mainstream pubic radio

Sun Ra, Flying Lotus, Frank Zappa, Prince, Paul McCartney, Ginsberg, Alice Coltrane and many, many more have played in this exact same room! I felt the energy in the room when I performed live on air last year at the station with McGutter.
