Bio
Emerging out of the pits of a gypsy lamp one frighteningly cold January night, Jeannie took to the modest town of Winnipeg. She spent a majority of days in the prairies tipping cows and churning butter. Years later Jeannie moved to Toronto: the city of smog and downtown hipsters. She settled into a giant checkered box held up by crayons pillars of epic proportion where she currently resides with other wonderful entities. Inbetween owl-hunting and fish-gazing, Jeannie likes to spend her time wolfing down sugary sweets. Before year 2090, she hopes to migrate to the ocean and live in a coral bed with scuttle fish neighbors where she will spend the rest of her days catching plankton with her tongue.
Artist Statement
My works really reflect my keen interest in the micro world, things that are small and seemingly insignificant. I’m fascinated by the human body, the physiology and function. I also try to incorporate a darkness to my subject matters but still remain an airy, positive quality that evens it to a neutral ground. I’m all about equilibrium and finding balance.
