The latest recording in our Love Devotion Series at Sound Colour Vibration. The Mars Volta in 2005 had just released Frances The Mute and was blazing a trail across the world with shows in every major touring region of the world. All of these performances had intricate and unique parts that were only present in a few shows, most of which was documented by fans. This is a recording from New Orleans and was made 4 months before the terrible natural disaster that we all know as Hurricane Katrina. There is an eerie feel in this recording, having seen them before this show at the Rimac Arena in San Diego and after this show in Los Angeles at the Greek Theatre, the darker feeling of some of the non album material is stunning and not present at the shows I attended. This recording really stands out, especially the middle section of Drunkship of Lanterns and my personal favorite Cassandra Gemini. Definitely worth the download. ~ Erik Otis
* A very special thanks goes to the taper Adam Lancaster and all people who sneak gear into shows so we can enjoy these shows and so people in the future can as well, many thanks.

I’m always happy to share my tapes so others can enjoy them as well. I can’t remember if I shared any of my pictures from this show, though. Some of them are pretty decent, if I do say so myself. Though poorly framed, here’s one example…
