Biography
Marco A. Fierro Mendoza is a self-taught graphic designer, photographer and musician living in Mexico City. He started searching his own artistic path playing drums with several death metal, grindcore and punk bands back in 1993 through 1998. Then in 1998, Shelli Renee Joye (his aunt) a former lightning consultant to Andy Warhol at the Factory in New York in 1969, introduce Marco to the computer realm. For the last 12 years, Marco have been learning and developing his skills and defining a modest yet solid and unique collection of artworks that focus on abstract, conceptual and interesting digital canvas. His main interest is creating from light-pixels itself and then selecting spontaneously the color scheme, shapes and sometimes state of the art typography.
From 2001 to 2005 he studied a Bachelor in Science of Communications and graduated with Honors. He also worked as Cultural and Editorial Counselor at a Mexican well known newspaper, El Reforma and studied an advertising course at DDB México in 2007. Since 2009, he’s been collaborating as a CD and Live Shows Reviewer with a British-Mexican store, El Nicho, dedicated to promote and sell experimental music in Mexico. In Spring of 2010 began another journey by founding an ambient, experimental and noise duo (Stalaktos) with his brother Carlos A. Fierro Mendoza. Stalaktos so far has two releases: one in their own netlabel (Proto Stalaktos™) and one in a German netlabel (Surrism-Phonoethics). Currently continues his search in the light of the pixels to increasingly build his very own and particular aesthetics and visual language. His artwork has been exhibited in Cuba, Mexico and United States of America.
Recently he finished and delivered the art direction, illustrations, designs and photographs for some releases of amazing musicians like Mark Dresser, Denman Maroney, Remi Álvarez and Pere Soto. His work has been published in the American, prestigious and legendary jazz magazine Downbeat, in another Mexican well known newspaper, El Universal and in record labels such as Kadima Collective and Discos Intolerancia.
