The Incal Classic Collection returning to print this winter

Alejandro Jodorowsky is one of 20th century’s finest avant guard surrealist film makers and writers. Having produced cult classics like El Topo and The Holy Mountain, when his name gets mention anywhere, it’s a magnet for interests and has always proven in my exposure of his works to be completely mind altering and life changing. Pair this kind of genius with that of Jean Giraud, more well known under his artist alias Moebius, and comes forth an artistic vision tha still stands the test of time, The Incal. The Incal was responsible for introducing the Jodoverse world, the one in which all of Alejandro Jodorowsky’s science section sagas were all based in. Filled with surreal imagery, futuristic concepts that melt together with primitive societal conditions that run through the full gamut of historical perspectives. Centered around a Light Incal which gives powers sought by many corrupt groups.

Cinema Suicide has a really great article on this along with a few sample pictures for this 300 page uncensored english print of this 1981 publication coming out this winter. Humanoids publishing is handling this edition and they are expecting a release date sometime in November for Europe and the States. Alejandro Jodorowsky and Moebius are responsible for this classic sci-fi and psychedelic comic, they’re meeting an concept for this stemming from the failed attempt at the version of Dune Jodorowsky worked on in the 70′s. Enjoy ~ Erik Otis

From Humanoids:

We just received a print sample copy of the THE INCAL Classic Collection. After having worked on the book intensively, it’s awesome to have the book in hand. At over 300 pages in length in the oversized European album format, it’s a hefty book (we mean that in the best way possible!). Also, the colors are even more vibrant than the original THE INCAL French publications. This may very well be the best presentation of THE INCAL series produced… and fortunately we’re releasing the English language edition at almost the same time as it’s French language counterpart. Below are pictures of the English edition. It looks like we will be on schedule to have the books in stores in November. The one thing that is not featured in the photos is the slipcase the book will be shipped in. Although we have early mock ups of the slipcase, we have yet to see it in its final form.

All of the sample pictures below come from the official Humanoids website

Excellent!! Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. Alejandro Jodorowsky’s films and comics are always very interesting, creative and original.

Are there any plans to print more of these? Many of us had no idea it was limited to 750 copies, and it seems to have sold out within about five minutes of release and is being scalped for double the cover price on Amazon’s used listings and ebay.

From Humanoids Publishing blog: “Once those 750 are sold, it will not be reproduced in that size and format.”

Hopefully by ‘format’ they don’t mean the original art. There’s no way I’m going to buy a version of the Incal with the newer art, it’s atrocious.

That shall remain to be seen, I have never seen the other art besides whats in this recent print.
