Creator Wave Vol 11: Jeremy Geddes
Jeremy Geddes studied painting at the Victorian College of the Arts and began working full time as a painter in 2003. His paintings have been published widely in various magazines, comics and books, and are collected around the world.
His paintings are highly detailed and often take months to complete. He works in oils and uses traditional techniques. He starts with a preliminary layer where composition colour and tone are resolved. Then the painting is drawn up and mapped out using washes of colour, before painting begins. Once the main painting is completed he then applies glazes, altering tones and adding depth to colour and texture.
Jeremy is most well known for his paintings of cosmonauts floating, falling, colliding and drifting in empty landscapes. He will be expanding on this theme in his next series of paintings. Jeremy was born in Wellington, New Zealand, and now lives in Melbourne, Australia with his wife and whippet.
