Sun Ra…Music for a new age
Sun Ra was among the first to start his own record label, press his own records, book his own tours and completely live the life his music spoke of and this was all started in the 40′s. I feel very lucky I was able to find the music of Sun Ra before I entered high school, something that influenced my choices from the time I really started to study Ra’s music. Sun Ra is more than a national treasure and lived one of the most intriguing paths in 20th century music, these songs are still taking people into the new age of thought and living, Sun Ra will be a continued source of inspiration for thousands of years to come. I choose these songs as they represent some of the first tunes that made me fall in love with the vibrations Ra gave and still gives to the world. ~ Erik Otis
