Creator Wave Vol 3: Japan “Dark Empire”

About Japan:
Japan from the Dark Empire crew is a name that has come to be recognized and respected throughout the graffiti art world as well as outside circles. Over the last two decades he has painted the west coast from San Diego to Seattle, as well as other parts of the country including Hawaii, Chicago, Washington D.C., Baltimore, New York, and even beyond the U.S. borders to Mexico, Canada, and Amsterdam. His dedication to the art form has helped him develop his styles and allowed him to express his artwork in all different types of mediums. From tags, stickers and scribes, to track side, freeway, and street bombing, to pieces, burners, legal walls, murals and galleries, Japan strives to be a well rounded graffiti artist. He is, perhaps, most noted for his work on freight trains, which can still be found rolling throughout the country, some of the pieces as recent as 2010, others dating back to the late 90′s.
Aside from graffiti art, he has earned a degree in Sociology and has worked in education and youth services over the last decade, as well as being a dedicated musician, DJ, and music promoter. A quote from a recent interview with him saying, “A true king knows how to balance responsibility and dedication,” speaks to his mind set when it comes to graffiti art. He delivers a positive message and encourages other graffiti artists to respect the art form and maintain it’s integrity.
